Best indicator of mathematical ability? watch

    I think the title is self explanatory and could create an interesting discussion. I'm thinking more along the line of pre-university indicators i.e. not degree performance. I think STEP is possibly up there. So what do TSR's mathematicians think?

    Define mathematical ability?

    Surely you're not thinking about exams, and memorizing things?

    And it can't also be memorizing a lot of equations, history and proofs?

    But it's all relative...
