    It's so stupid.

"Goldman" is shorter. "Goldman" sounds cooler. "GS" is also cool.

Everyone I know at Goldman calls it Goldman.

So what the hell is this "Goldmans" thing?

'GS' doesn't make it obvious enough you're talking about Goldman Sachs. So it's shortened to Goldmans; the 's' is there, I presume, because it just sounds right as an abbreviation, and the fact that Sachs starts with an 's'.

    Just a wild guess.

    This.

I've always interpreted it as the place belonging to the name. Like, "I'm going to Louise's (house)"

The question is why it seems to be unique to Goldman. I've never heard "Morgans", "Citis", "Deutsches", "Barcaps", "Lehmans" etc before.
True, it just seems to sound right though :P

Thanks for clarifying it for us, pedant.

People might say Goldmans as a collective term for Goldman employees, i.e. "those Goldmans are too loud", alough the correct term would be Goldmanites, i.e. "those Goldmanites are too loud".
