Engines Rock solid???? I don't think so . . . never. Even the carburettor went as well, something I failed to add to the long list of problems. These are parts that should not be going within the first 2 years of ownership.

Thats a load of crap as ALL Puntos have fuel injection systems no Punto has a carb and if yours did it was not the original engine. The most basic engine is effectly the 1.1 UNO FIRE engine with a fuel injection system bolted on. Some of the 1.2s were either 8 valve single injection units or 16v multi injection units but no Puntos were fitted with carbs as they were ancient even in the mid 90s.

puntos are beatiful to drive, especially with 'city mode'(extra power steering), but as mentioned in other posts, the suspension goes after a while. mine personally is absolutely buggerd. they are good cars to have though, and very easy to drive.

Sync I am guessing that if it was just a leaking oil filter the car would not completly have run out of oil. I am just interested to know what could possibly cause an oil filter to leak apart from physical damage the only way I can see a new one would leak if it it wasn't fitted properly. The head gasket seal went on my dads escort (remember the thread about) that lost a lot of oil but it wasn't completly empty.

Although my dads engine does seem a big buggered at the moment, its racing quite badly when ideling and is very rough in motion, it does need a service though so I am hoping its just that.

Your absolutely right there! All the Fiat range have injectors and therefore no Carb! I haven't the faintest idea what I was thinking of. Different car obviously. Apologies.

In fact, the whole current FIAT range are injectors.

Im driving my mum's Mk1 90. 1.2 Litre, its got all the electric windows and stuff. Apart from the lack of power steering (Which I don't miss too much), its big enough, engine is really responsive, great little gearbox (When im low on fuel I can trundle along at 30Mph in 5th gear), takes corners very nicely too.
