What happens if you fail your postgrad?

Then, you don't get your postgrad degree. The university registry can grant an extension of study if your school permits it mind, if you wanted to continue work on the same project.

You don't get a degree, as others have said. Although you may still be eligible for a diploma if you only failed your dissertation.

If you are spared excecution at the Tower of London then, as others have said, you'd either get a lower degree (PgDip, PGcert) depending on what aspects of the degree you've failed. If you don't even get that then deny that you went to uni at all in your CV. Just say you were 'traveling abroad'.
