I suppose this is more of a geology/engineering thing, but we've not yet seen the bottom of the Mariana trench.

I'm sure that there's far more interesting things to discover with science though!

    i) I did say prove it does or doesn't exist.
ii) You can prove something doesn't exist, we can say " burgers eat chips" which we know doesn't exist and we can prove this.
iii) This is the question that has driven us towards religions etc. this is a very important question for humanity to consider.
No, you're wrong, you can't prove that burgers don't indeed eat chips. Anyway it's different it's more of "Prove that a creature made of apricots with a face made of faeces does exist" It's just ridiculous.

    Burgers eat chips:

If you feed chips to a cow
Then turn it into a burger
Has the burger technically eaten the chips
    And undergone 'time travel'
I.e if the burger was to go back through the event time line of its life it would be a cow and eat chips?

    I think so.

    Burgers eat chips!

I'd be inclined to say that dark matter is just normal matter that we can't see. For example stars clouded by dust, or stars which are simply to faint to detect.
    Or perhaps just dust.
    I don't think it's anything mystical.

It's worth keeping in mind though - everything we think we know about physics is wrong to a certain extent, newton's equations were shown to be wrong by einstein. einstein's equations were shown to wrong on a quantum level. quantum physics still doesn't explain gravity.

All we're doing it getting closer and closer to the "truth", but we may never ever get there.
I'm inclined you say you have no say on this or any other type of matter.

Clouded by dust? the centre of the milkway is obscured by dust, we see it via infrared and x-ray and gamma ray vision

Dark Matter isn't just out there, it's everywhere, so it's not "too far"

the whole point is that it doesn't interact with matter or light or anything known except gravity

Define uni: A prefix meaning One.

There can only be one by definition!
    a unicycle has one wheel

does it mean there aren't more than one in existence?

we happen to live in A universe

How can you be sure there aren't other universes out there that are cut off from ours?

But it raises the question, how can you be sure that there are others? We know there is at least 1, but have no proof of the existance of others.

Personally I believe there are multiverses, and a firm believer in the chaos theory.

Its just less exciting when you agree with people.

Lots of good things have been mentioned.

This thread just makes me angry, we waste so much on crap like killing each other instead of science. ;<
