    ...and I'd love to go out for a while when I arrive if it's possible. The bus that I'd be getting would take me right into the city centre. I'm going to have a look around the town and university tomorrow and this means I'll be looking for somewhere to stay tonight. I've tried phoning a few B&B type places but none of them are willing to let me check in at any time between 12 and 4am. Is there anything else you can do/recommend? I'm trying to see if there are any hostels in the area but not really having any luck with that either.

    Have you tried Travel Lodges? I've stayed in them and come back at all hours of the night before.

    There is a Travelodge on Bridge Street which is about a 5 minute walk from the bus station.
