I find the NHS encyclopedia fairly helpful in terms of information & may have the added benefit of reflecting official practise/healthcare in this country.

It's hard. I have no doubt in my mind that you'll just want to collapse under the strain of this. three times is a total blow.

I know everyone says that you'll have to be strong for your mum, but I'm just letting you know that it's okay to cry..it's okay to let your emotions show otherwise it'll drive you utterly crazy.

Tonnes of my relatives have cancer, and a good few are coming through nicely. Infact, my uncle has stomach cancer and has had a successful operation - maybe your mum will be third time lucky too.

x

so did your Uncle's operation cure the cancer or did it just control it and relieve some of the symptons? coz the doctor told mum that they may not be able to cure it, just shrink it. How long did he hav it for? my mum didnt realise til 7months after and im scared that it is too late for a cure.

I am very sorry for you and your family to hear that your mum is so ill.

Some of the prognosis depends on whether the cancer of the stomach is a "new" growth or is related to the breast cancer. It would be an unusual place for metastasis but stomach cancer could have been a way of putting it to your mum, saying that is the place it is, but actually it could be a metastasis from the breast cancer near the (organ) stomach.

Quite often chemotherapy can help a lot, even if it does have sideeffects. Then if the growth is reduced in size it maybe can be operated successfully. All in all it is a serious illness though.

hi, my grandfather died of liver cancer on thursday after a long illness but the good thing was he didnt even feel pain until the day of his death. Even if nothing can be done (and nowadays that is rare) you can be sure that the doctors will make absolutely sure your mother is never in pain or discomfort, and can have a good quality of life no matter what.

Just remember that you are not the only one in this situation - there are others who are feeling just like you, sometimes support groups and joining forums online with other people in your situation helps a lot.

Hope your mum will be fine and im sure she will be.

My grandad and godmother had this. It's not good...

It probably depends how progressed the cancer is but it usually goes >loss of appetite > loss of weight > too weak for chemo etc
