I'm currently studying gcse french and i have my exams around easter time, i have got A's in my courseworks, and i was wondering is it still possible for me to get an A* and if so how many marks will i need in the reading, listening and speaking exams.

Any help will be very appreciated.

    hey there.

firstly it depends on the exam board, but for my french exam and for my german it works like this.

    UMS marks /90 coursework /60
    A* 80 51
    A 70 45
    B 60 39
    C 50 33

so if you got 15/15/15 for your coursework then that means 45 so that means 70 UMS marks

all modules are out of 90 UMS.

you need an average of 80 for an A*.

so you would need 70/84/84/84 (avrage 80.5) to get an a*.

it would obviously be better if your coursework was higher, less pressure on the exam.

you would have to look elsewhere to find out how many marks for how many UMS on the exams and oral.

    i don't know that offhand.

    good luck.

Hang on, sorry i got 51, my teacher told me i got 17 in each

The grade boundaries change from year to year and they are always set post-marking. However, the boundaries from the previous year can be used as a guide. The marks your teacher has given you are provisional. A sample will be moderated by the examination board to ensure that standards are maintained across the country.

then you've got and A* stop worrying kiddo.

you just need an A* in each other test, oral, reading, listening.

    (any chance of a rep?)
