What sort of jobs pay this way?

Any ideas where I should be looking?

I worked in a hotel a few years ago doing bar and restaurant work and that was paid cash in hand.

Not that i'm planning to go on Job Seekers Allowance and get a job that pays cash in hand, but I don't supposed jobs advertise when they are paying cash in hand -

Any ideas where to look?

There have been a few pubs that I know of that have paid cash in hand.
Helping out in a builders yard/mechanics etc may also pay cash in hand. I have helped out with stuff like that for cash in hand though the days were really long and work wasn't garenteed.

I used to work cash in hand at a pub but the boss was a complete **** and all the people (including me) that worked there were underage >< The brewery sacked him shortly after I left and I cant say I was too upset! In my experience it means you lose any right to be treated decently at work.

I wouldn't of thought firms would wish to advertise that their paying their staff cash in hand! It's illegal first of all if your not deducting the tax etc and by following the currect financial regulations.

Pretty much any casual labour. Like, as builder's lackey, or restaurant work (although the one where work does everything properly, so i have to pay NI . But at least no tax, as i'm still a student
