This will be my last exam :woo:
So not too worried about it, but got chem5 day b4 it

I reckon the hardest qs will be on astrophysics coz of the new formulae and detail.

Overall this appears to be one of the easier units, but looks can be decieving.. :erm:

Can someone explain me about standard candles?
A body of known luminosity via a physical principle, examples: Type 1A supernovae (require a crit mass) & Cepheid pulsing (Period-Luminosity relationship). Which can be used to measure distance.

    What is redshift?
Will you be able to visit online revision at 1:00pm today?
It's going to be on Astrophysics.

For red shift you can read wiki.

Have anybody heard of Walter Lewin's lectures at MIT?
    I've been studying from them.
You might want to have a look on some topic you dont understand well.

are there any past questions people can provide. on a unit4 topic on this site there was a link to this:

    http://cid-5432f573d3fc3f5a.office.l.../Physics/Units

It had good unit four questions but the unit 5 ones are not the right topic and all about other stuff.
anyone got something like this with loads of questions but for unit 5

hey guys, in the spec theres somthing about:
-the need to know how to discuss the applications of radioactive materials including enviromental and ethical issues????(nuclear decay topic)
-also for the oscillations topic, explain how damping and the plastic deformation of ductile materials reduce the amplitude of oscillations??
    hel:O

I was wondering about environmental and ethical issues to do with radioactive materials as well. I assume environmental is to do with disposal of radioactive materials or something?
    What about ethical?

Not too sure about the oscillations one; but for the first one:
radioactive materials are hard to store - otherwise they can have very adverse impacts on the environment etc.
being hard to store/expensive - is it correct to use all that money to 'store' them when it could be used elsewhere?

    etc. common sense stuff.
