# Edexcel A2 Physics Unit 5 'Physics from Creation to Collapse' watch

1. (Original post by lefneosan)
dont see why. and please dont say because ke is max
At equilibirium K.e is max, so that means all the g.p.e is converted to K.e so P.e min.
Got it?
2. how much do you think 120 UMS will be??

how much do you think 120 UMS will be??
i am by no means an expert on this so correct me if im wrong somebody, but the other papers seemed to be 12 marks above the A standard, so the guys on here are predicting 56/80 for an A so i would say between 66 and 68 for 120 UMS?

Btw how did you all find my mar scheme? any amendments to be made?

Well K.E is going to be maximum when velocity is maximum, which is when the object is at the midpoint. K.E will be zero when velocity is zero, which is at maximum displacement. Potential Energy = mgh, so it'll be at a minimum when there is no change in height which is at the equilibrium position.

Jay you did phy2 right?
What do you think the A will be for that?
Hopefully something low. I need as many marks as possible

Looks good to me at a glance (haven't checked the mutliple choice ones at all) .

On 18d I think I daftly wrote about the dampers absorbing the force not the energy.. I even wrote energy then crossed it out for some ridiculous reason. Reckon I'd get any marks?
7. Hey all!!!!!!!!!!!

8. Hey, number 16, the unit of specific heat capacity is J/(kg K) , shouldn't you add 273 to the temperature?
9. It's the difference in temperature you're looking at, yuli.

Oh, yes. Sorry, but just one mark for that I guess.
11. *sigh*
i guess the bad thing is they gave us quite a few "show that" questions, so there are the easy marks BUT they might increase the grade boundary because of that...i dunno, i doubt ANYONE knows what goes on in the heads of those edexcel people
ohmygod edexcel i hat you, i hate you with passion
12. the amplitude was probably 17.5 mm instead of 35 because the question says the bridge covers a distance of 70 mm in one oscillation. so the amplitude should be 1/4th of that. thats what i wrote

Usually when they say "oscillated through a total distance of.."they mean the distance covered in half an oscillation.i.e the distance from one maximum displacement to the other.

I believe.

How was the paper overall?
there were a few tricky parts but i found it to be much easier than unit 4.
15. will you guys stop talking about the test, we finished -.-
nothing will make your grade better now.
so
ENJOY the moment!

Great mark scheme ... it was good to see that there were few mistakes in my mark scheme, but yours was a lot better Thanks

awww!!!!!thank you thank you.

How did you do at the exam?
18. Why is it on every exam paper topic someone always tells us to stop talking about it... -_-. We want to talk about it, that's the whole point of the thread, it'll ease our worrying while waiting for results day.

Right but there isnt a perfect exchange between ke and pe- there is always some pe but not always some ke. also all the gpe is not converted.
