Hey erm does anyone know how a vector can be useful in genetic engineering? In my question it says that biologists in Australia are using genetic engineering to produce a gene to insert into oranges by combining two pieces of DNA to produce a gene which they've called SDLS-2
Aaand it also says DNA sequence that switches on a gene used in DNA sequence that kills plant cells seed formation, and they intend to introduce this gene into orange trees, if that helps
Also, how could this gene lead to the production of seedless fruit?

    Thaanks (:

Vectors are used to transfer genes from one cell to another. Here, the vector is used to insert the DNA sequence that kills plant seed cell formation into the cells of the orange tree. Therefore, the orange tree can no longer produce seeds.

Feel free to ask if you still don't get it
