# Need Help On Math Problem Asap!!!! watch

1. hey guys,

im new to this whole thing so first off, how are you all doing? my name's Ryan and im from Egypt studying at CU Boulder university in Boulder Colorado.

Anyway im stuck on this calculus 3 problem it states that xz+ylnx-(x^2)+4=0, and then asks me to find the partial derivative of x with respect to z. Question states this function defines x as a function of two independent variables y and z, and the partial derivative exists. I believe that i should begin by solving for x but do not know how to do this

THANKS!
2. protip: with partial diff., when you differentiate with respect to one variable, you assume the other variables are just constants
3. so should i just differentiate with respect to z? wouldnt i have to solve the entire equation for x first?
4. also it told me to find the partial derivative of x with respect to z at (1,-1,-3)

Are you OK with implicit differentiation?
