I'm not sure where to post this, so sorry if this isn't the right category.

My problem: I used to tutor and babysit 2 American children. The kids were absolutely spoilt brats, would steal my stuff, insult me, the boy even threatened to stab me as he was pointing a kitchen knife at me. That evening I decided to quit in May 2009. When I told the mum, she violently hit her kids in front of me.. crazy women. Anyway, she still hasn't paid me the €170 that she agreed to pay me, almost one year later! The evening itself, I agreed to wait max. a month because she's a single mum after all. She has my banking details. Now she blocked my phone number after endless promises to pay me back each month.

This is an "illegal" job, although arranged through a childcare agency, so what can I do? I've sent an email to the agency, but what else can I do? Threaten her? I can't exactly go to the police saying she hasn't been paying me..

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need the money! I realise the odds are small that anyone here can help me, but it's worth asking.

    Thanks!

You need to get over it.

No contact, no money, no comeback.

I'm not sure what the Working/Tax law is like in France. But in the UK if the situation was legitimate I would take them to small claims court.

Generally, by babysitting with an agreed price beforehand, then you've made a verbal contract. Proving this, and the cost of taking it to court, means it probably isn't worth it. It's been a year and you evidently haven't needed the money, so just forget about it and move on I say

Not being honest about what? :s Because it's not a legal job? Tutoring is hardly ever legal, it's not an important income..

Then it's not illegal. It's just non-requisite to pay tax

'Tutoring is hardly ever legal'... what the hell?

If you thought you were doing something illegal, why would you admit to it?

Come on you, know what I mean. Not illegal as such, but not tax declared.

Suck it up and put it down to experience. You can't really get help with it without admitting you work cash in hand anyway.
