We need to hurry up and sign a top class midfielder, tbh.

Hilario is good enough to be our backup, despite his performance today, imho

Its not official, tbh.. I don't know if we're really any closer to signing him. The Benfica president kind of released a statement saying that he doesn't want to have to go into the transfer market, unless Ramires leaves.. Which kind of suggests he might join us, hopefully

Its not true, but its a fair shot of us signing any sort of CM tbh and yes hopefully Ramires wants leave and comes :woo:

Ramires might bring some much needed youth and vigour to the team. Steep price though, but he'll develop into a full player soon enough.

A lot of sources are reporting he will be coming tomorrow for a medical, and that we're offering him a 4 year contract that doubles his current wage. Just have to hope the PL doesn't turn it all down due to the involvement of a 3rd party...

I don't think £17m is very expensive for a likely starter in an important midfield position in our team.

I read about the double wages thing but apparently it comes up to 2m euro a year if they're doubled. http://www.record.xl.pt/Futebol/Naci...tent_id=455330

"We have the whole of August to complete deals. The strategy of the club is clear. Compared to last season, we have lost Belletti, Ballack and Joe Cole, so we will add three players in these positions. So far, we've brought in [Yossi] Benayoun from Liverpool."
    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...nsfers&cc=4716

    Benayoun for Cole
    Ramires for Ballack
Srna for Belletti (he kind of hints at it later on in the article)

I doubt Srna will happen, if it does it's not a replacement for Belleti IMO.

But, we do need another attacking player in although we're only allowed 17/25 players who count as foreign and not home grown, which we are already at (with Deco likely to leave and Ramires filling his spot).

What happen to the Aguero rumors , and look's like Torres commiting to Liverpool ends the transfer talk.

He might be referring to Neymar.. It seems recently Neymar & Ramires have been the only bids we have made. Hopefully our interest in Neymar turns into us signing him, he looks a very talented player; quick and skillful, he would be like the (less childish) Robinho signing that we tried to make previously.

I guess the club were priced out of signing Aguero. I think the price for him is still £40m+... I would be horrified if we spent that much on him, tbh :dontknow:

Surely it'd be lower since Athletico Madrid are in debt problems from what I heard.

They've been in financial trouble for ages, haven't they? I don't know.. if he was available for less than £30m, some club somewhere would have signed him by now imho

It's not really the transfer fee that is the problem. Talks broke down in January because aguero wanted 200k a week. That is waaaay too much.

Nah, the "latest" reports that were on Aguero stated that we would have signed him for 20-22 mil. So it wouldnt be that bad.

So Ramires is more or less done deal and we aregetting a third.
