Don't think we're going to get that creative midfielder. Or maybe we'll use mata as that midfielder.. even though we need width too. hmm.

Perhaps that's the idea with the semi-potential inclusion of Perreira? Use him as a left winger (versus Malouda) whilst Mata plays a role in the middle.

Is that even on? I remember hearing that the pereira deal was off. But now that we've loaned Van Aanholt out... hmm.

And never under AVB has Pereira played as a left midfielder/winger. Every single game that he played was as a leftback. Can't see AVB using him as the winger...

Could be useful having two quality left-backs though. Throw him against Utd with their wingers and have Cole and Pereira lock out their right wingers... :coma:

"Reports on Twitter that Chelsea midfielder Gael Kakuta has agreed a loan move to Bolton Wanderers."

WOO - This is good news, we could see the real Kakuta this season if it works!

Apparently Perreira deal breaks down, Chelsea are in trouble if they cant find decent cover for LB and some creativity

We don't need cover at left-back...

Creativity, now that we do need.

We still have Ferreira and Bertrand who can provide cover at LB. Creativity? Mata looked good at the weekend and we have Sturridge coming back for next game.

Happy with our squad at the moment, although if Benayoun goes I would like to see us bring in another CM or we will be short on numbers there.

With Kakuta gone and Benayoun tweeting that he's going to sign for a London club as he's staying in London, most likely Arsenal we've lost 2 midfielders. Hoping for an AVB miracle from his UEFA meeting right now. Modric £40 million bid rejected yesterday.

Will we play mata as the winger or playmaker though? He can't be both, and we need both creativity and width. And if he's injured, we'll be back to square one. Benayoun could've filled that gap, but he's leaving.

I think the chelsea board know that we need that creativity urgently so we don't rely too much on Mata, which is why we've bid 40m for modric... unfortunately been rejected though. I wish we'd keep benayoun...

Literally makes no sense to let Benayoun leave, he offers a different option.

I hope that AVB has plans for a late bid for someone, we will be very short in central midfield. Problem is, who does he go for, nobody would be available, especially now...

We don't need some sort of an assigned playmaker in the centre of the midfield, we can get more creativity from all over the pitch. If we need someone to string some good passes together in midfield we have McEachran.

I will keep the faith for now. AVB must have something planned.

Ramires, McEachran, Lampard, Romeu, Mikel for three spots... either a change of formation with just the two CMs starting a game, or Malouda/Mata will be shifted down.

I can definitely see Malouda slacking off when the transfer window closes though... no more worries about being sold 'cos he's been bad.

I'm going to throw in some Manager here but place him on the wing and set him to "Advanced Playmaker"? XD But ofc get him to cross and stuff too :P, play McEachran in midfield when needed and hope to God that Lampard returns easy!

    In AVB we trust.

We need a midfielder with the ability to play a killer pass. McEachran can do that to an extent but he's 18, not the sort of age I would like our main creative midfield player to be, throwing him into big fixture now would be a colossal risk, he isn't ready.

McEachran is too young. Yes, he's quality, and I'd love to have him on the pitch all the time, but there's a reason both AVB and Ancelotti are keeping the pressure from him by playing him occasionally as the DM rather than further up the pitch.

And a winger providing both creativity and width in a team lacking majorly in both seems wrong to me tbh. What are our midfielders there for then? We need to be a threat from as many different positions in the pitch as possible, and the midfield generates chances. Look at Manchester City and Utd, Nasri, Silva and Aguero all given the duty of being creative and providing a threat. I guess they're allowed to do both the creative side of things and provide width, but that's because there's three of them. The defense cant just congregate on the one player and mark him out of the game.

And again, if Mata is injured, we miss out on width and the creative aspect, and look as flat as we have done for the last 6 months.

Villas Boas did start to play him higher up the field in pre-season though, and now we have two specialist players in Mikel and Romeu in defensive midfield I think McEachran will get more time further up the field.

Surely all wingers aim to make chances for other players?

Do Malouda and Anelka/Sturridge even look at Torres/Drogba and try and play him in? They're far more concerned with their goal tallies. I'm willing to bet that they shoot - and have their shots blocked - more often than they make clear chances for our strikers through crosses/through balls. Which is why Torres has to come so deep during matches and play like Rooney. But even Rooney has another striker who plays off the shoulder of the defender.

And I agree, we're definitely set in the DM position. More worried about our creative midfielder than that.

(not disappointed at all with our buys so far though. looking forward to seeing mata and sturridge play. Should be nice.)
