    Hey All!

I have to write a University style Biology paper (about 5pgs long) but have never written one before. Where do I start? Is the layout + structure similar to an English essay? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

It all depends on what you are writing - essay, discussion, critical analysis, experiment, etc. Ask your tutor for an example. Read around the topic first, write short notes first. Writing is easy if you know your subject. Try writing in passive voice if you're already familiar with essay writing in active voice.
There's a book 'Scientists Must Write' by Robert Barras published by Chapman and Hall. In most libraries.

    Above all don't worry!

    Thanks Isopod!

It's more like a commentary/analysis as there is limited info available on the net regarding the device.

I hit 300+ references to [trimprobe OR trimprob*] on google, but the internet is not always peer reviewed or good quality, I haven't tried it for you, but if you have an Athens user login from your University you can access a stack of electronic journals, these are out of reach of regular web users. Most uni's pay a subscription on your behalf. Try approaching your Learning Services Dept. at Uni.
