Software Engineering ...

Does anyone know of any schools that are good for software engineering/development in the UK or anywhere in europe(must be english speaking) ... there is one catch however. I'm a US resident/citizen and I need a school that will be able to take me. I don't have any UK schooling or standardized testing. Everything I've ever done is to go to a US college ... but I don't like it here and would much prefer to go to college across the pond  Any advice/help is much appreciated!

That is a list of all the Software Engineering courses starting in 2006.

You say that you want to do a course in Software Engineering but I would seriously recommend you take a look at some of the Computer Science courses as well because they can be very similar (some are so similar that you can switch to a Software Engineering course after the first year). Some Universities offer Computer Science courses with modules in Software Engineering so I wouldn't be put off by the title of the course as it is not always as it seems (remember that courses vary from each University quite a bit too so you may want to take an in-depth look at some of the course content before making your decision).

I don't think you'll have any problems because you've gone to a US College. However, it would be helpful if you could tell us your predictions for your grades so other members can advise you better on courses that would be at your level.

I actually have not gone to any US colleges yet, I have a GED, which is the equivilancy of a high school diploma over here. I have top end scores on my GED test and plan to have scores in the lesser of the top end scores on my SAT's

I have been to the UCAS website and found the list, I mainly want to know which are GOOD universities as opposed to the not so good universities for CS in particular. Personal experience at a particular uni would be splendid, but any word of mouth would be great. I know nothing of any school over there and the only one I really know anything about is Richmond, and i've heard some not so snazzy things about that school, including on this forum.
Since you found the list from the UCAS website, in my opinion the following universities are good: Bradford, Durham, Essex, Glamorgan, Herriot Watt, Hull, Imperial, Kingston, Manchester, Napier, Oxford Brookes, Paisley, Sheffield, Southampton, Stirling, Strathclyde, and Ulster.

I would apply to a variety from the good uni's that I listed above, and some from the UCAS website that require a little bit lower grades. Nevertheless, the uni's that I didn't mention from the UCAS website are not bad too.
Saving you to go to the UCAS website everytime, I post a list of uni's that offer software engineering:

I'd suggest that you look at Computer Science based courses at the following universities :-

Imperial College London, University of York, University of Warwick, University of Southampton, University of Manchester, University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburugh.

They all have great CS departments, and a fair few of them will offer a 4 year undergraduate masters which covers alot more of the software enginering side of CS then their 3yr courses. For instance at York the four year MEng is actually awarded as an MEng in Computer Systems and Software Enginering, while the three year BEng is awarded as a BEng in Computer Science.
