part-time jobs in Cardiff

Im hopefully starting soon (less than 2 months to go!!!) and I know I will desperately need to get a part-time job while there.
ive been considering working in a clothes shop to take advantage of the discount!! But are there any other good ideas for places to work?
I wouldnt mind doing some temping work or bar work, as long as the pay is good!
if ur already there, did u find it easy to get a job when you started, or was it hard cos of so many new students in Cardiff?

October is when all the Christmas jobs and temp jobs start appearing. Plenty of supermarkets around also.

Cardiff town centre usually got a lot of temp clothes shop jobs on offer, i don't think you'll have a problem finding a job when you get here, especially if you got experience working within that sector.

The students union has a job shop in it which can help you out when trying to find a job. It has details of all typical student jobs and there is bound to be one thats ok for you.

Yeah the job shop is ace. You get a lot of jobs coming through-temps via email but they also advertise permanent roles too. The Union is currently looking for bar staff, which is an ace job (I did a few shifts in the Taf and Solus ad its loads of fun).

Thanks people! ive just found out that my plan to work at H&M is sadly no more cos they only take over 21s... a shame cos I really would make use of a discount there

I think I'll def go to the Cardiff jobshop, but Im also gonna try and contact loads of media companies/magazines/radio stations etc for any opportunties they have, cos it will be good experience for my course! (BA in journalism, film and media).

Good ideas. Just a reminder that your NUS card will qualify you for discounts in many stores in Cardiff anyway.

Where did you find out that H&M is over 21 only?

I worked in H&M Cardiff for the 3 years I was at Uni and I only turned 21 in my third year.

I would try and apply for an Xmas position there (as they hire loads of people and keep most of them on after January). The pay is fab for a shop job and they hire people to work what ever they want (in my first year I only worked 4 hours on a sat morning). also the discount is well worth it!!!
