What a ridiculous thread, yes caffeine addictions are possible but are not normally that strong. You will look at this thread in a months time and cringe.

I'm addicted to Irn Bru. Not clinically or anything, I just lust after it, it's ridiculous but I love it. When I win the lottery I'm filling a bath with it. Whoo.

apparantly those who drink a full (small) bottle of soda per day will be obese by the time they reach 40, and will have greater chances of diabetes and heart disease. enough...

It sounds like an addiction to me... diet coke can be very addictive. I used to drink about 4 cans a day (not as bad as you but significant). I was addicted to the caffeine (I'm allergic to caffeine which means I have a strange relationship with anything containing it). Anyway...

Eating or drinking too much of anything can be bad for you, but especially something like diet coke which is made up of a lot of chemicals, and has virtually nothing of nutritional value in it.

The above is a very informative site about what diet coke could do to you. I stress could, because I don't think any findings are set in stone. There are lots of arguments to and fro but the fact is: diet coke may not be bad for you, but its definitely not good for you, and its eating away at your cash.

If I were you, I'd try to cut down drastically.

I don't think that you can get obese on *diet* coke. Its got no fat and no calories.

It'll find another way to kill you though. Mwahaha.

I should probably cut down I drink between 330ml and 500ml a day but some times its more depending on what the social situation is.
if your trying to diet and are drinking diet coke all the time, it wont help you lose weight cos i told my science teacher this and shesaid its got loads of stuff in it that holds onto the fat or something like that anyway.
i can drink 2 liter bottle in one day, all by my self.
Your teeth will rot and all fall out.

I don't drink that many fizzy drinks (maybe 5 or 6 cans a week), and I brush my teeth regularly, but I've just recently had to have a couple of fillings!

Coke is really bad for your teeth. If you must drink it, at least do it through a straw so less of it touches your teeth :P

You can get a mild addiction to the caffeine kick, but it is nothing compared to what you usally refer to as addiction ( such as nicotine addiction or alcoholism ).

You can't hold coke responsible, it was your choice to drink the stuff. Besides, lawsuits has failed to hold cigarrette companies responsible for the damage smoking causes so that pretty much means coke are safe.

If you want to controll your coke intake , well best way is to stop drinking it. Switch to something that doesn't contain caffeine, such as fanta or sprite ( those have light versions as well) or even better, drink some water when you get thirsty. Depending a little on how you do with your fat intake you coudl consider to have milk rather than coke during dinner, but seeing that you drink the diet version of coke, I assume you want to keep your callory intake low, so milk is probably not your best choice then.

Dunno about that, he does drink the diet version which doesn't contain sugar. It still has a pretty bad PH level but its far from as bad for your teeth as the full sugar version is.

I would call the bull **** card on that one. If you burn more callories than you ingest then you will loose weight eventually. The callory content of diet coke is way less than that of the regular version.

i read somewhere that the stuff they use in diet drinks to replace the sweetners can cause cancer. something about deposits of a non-biodegradable substance in the cortex of the brain. i can't remember any more than that, but if that's true, then too much diet coke is a bad thing.

also, i do kind of know what you mean about having an addiction to it - it might actually be the sugar, rather than the caffeine. usually i can't stand coke and fizzy drinks, but i spent nearly a month in china last summer, where very little of the food contains large amounts of sugar, and things like chocolate and sweets are not consumed on a daily basis. anyway, after about 10 days there i was in a cafeteria and i saw a bottle of coke and i really was overcome with the worst craving i've ever had in my life. i couldn't stop myself buying it, and when i drank it, instead of tasting of brown sugary water, it was actually the most satisfying drink i've ever had in my life! i don't drink tea or coffee or anything else with caffeine in, so i'm certain that it was the sugar that did it.
