First of all, chocolate doesn't cause acne - so don't worry about that aspect of it....

Second, could you define "highly addicted" ? Like how much chocolate do you eat per day? Do you get cravings if you don't eat it? etc...

well the minimum # of bars i eat are 4, less then that and i get very grouchy. I get cravings all the time, on the bus, tube, home, etc...whenever i see a chocolate bar.

yeh, chocolate doesn't give you acne. you're not eating that much, why worry about it? i have a pretty bad addiction to the stuff myself - at one stage i was eating one 400g bar of the stuff every day and decided to cut down because i thought i might be abusing my pancreas a bit too much, but 4 bars a day isn't terrible.

As long as you are not gaining weight rapidly and make sure to keep your teeth in order I don't think 4 bars a day will kill you.

yeh. plus, if you eat loads it actually kind of screws up your digestive system so you start losing weight. the only thing you'd need to worry about it the sugar - type 2 diabetes etc.

Chocolate cant cause acne! I eat loads of chocolate, it is my favourite sweets and even when I am trying to cut out chocolate, there is always something that makes me want to go the shop and buy a Yorkie, and I always give in. There is something about chocolate that makes people want to eat it.. lol.. can you imagine being allergic to chocolate? MY WORST NIGHTMARE!

Indeed, you can definately expect a few uncomfortable toilet visits if you go all too crasy on the chocolate. Licorish has the same effect I beleive.

four chocolate bars a day is very unhealthy -thats 28 bars a week!

get into the hang of eating fruit - remember its 5 portions of fruit recommended to eat daily not choco bars

My poor friend is allergic to chocolate (along with a few other things) and I feel so sorry for her! We also find it really hard to remember her allergy and so will quite often say to her "do you fancy a bit of my chocolate bar?"...opps!

Chocolate isn't actually addictive. Sure you can want it but it's not an actual bona fide addiction.

i eat on average a choc a day but four! Thats too much.

wow, and i thought i was addicted! i could never eat more than 2 bars a day because i worry about putting on weight! but yeah i know of the problem, a friend tells me its the magnesium in chocolate that makes you crave it more, so you should eat organic chocolate-the Green and Blacks is a good brand, as it contains a higher rate of magnesium than normal chocolate bars and reduce your craving.

Um..you just said its the magnesium that makes you crave it, so why would you want to buy one with a higher rate of magnesium :s-smilie:

oops  i did didn't i? i dunno, but it does have something to do with magnesium which makes you crave it, so possibly organic has less?

you do? i didn't mean that! i just found that after a while, if you start to eat too much - say 650g-1kg a day, then you stop getting hungry for other foods. and then, since chocolate is the only thing you're eating, it seems to get burnt off pretty quickly, so you end up losing weight without feeling hungry (i accidentally lost 10lbs doing that :s: ). i expect it's something to do with the sugar rush. i've heard of it happening with other sweet foods as well.
