now that schools over can ask my school for it?
Given the Freedom of Information Act, I think that you can, although I couldn't swear on it. There's no harm in asking though...
Do we have a 'Permanent Record' In the UK? In the UK under the Data protection act
‘Data must not be kept longer than necessary’
‘Data must be collected for specified purposes and cannot be used in ways that are incompatible with those purposes’
‘Data must be adequate, relevant and not excessive for the purposes’
Meaning that once you leave school your school should destroy any record they hold about you, and there is no need for any government body to hold information about what you were like at school as it is not relevant and the data was not collected for that purpose. So I really don’t think we have one in the UK.
Our school has a sort of lease on our information, i.e. it can keep the information for about 4 years after we leave, just in case it's needed for references etc.
After that, they legally have to destroy the information. However, as its about you, the data protection act shouldn't apply if *you* ask. I'm not sure though.
I think our school did a perm. record, like if you got in trouble they'd threaten you with ''we'll write it up & put it in your perm. record for all your future employee's to read'' lol
I may ask for mine actually, just to see if they were lying or not!
isnt it against data protection act to give personal details of anyone to other people or companies, except the police?
Our school had a list of everyone that did bad stuff, even the remotely bad like whether you sometimes didn't hand in your homework.
i just wanna see what my suspensions where about lol
