Turn your head abit and make sure you keep your eyes open.

Practice in a mirror - find a position that makes flatters you. Think basically it's a matter of confidence..work it!

I'm a bit like that sometimes. If you have a camera phone, use it in front of a mirror and try to find some good poses. And when you take a good picture of yourself on your phone, you can download it onto your computer!

I'm like that. I absolutely hate having my photo taken. My best friend probably has about three pictures of me! I just hate the way I look in them. There's a few around which I like, but I just avoid them now. I'm always the one that takes group photographs when we're out.

I have to say though, the best photos are the natural ones. Poses look too forced, try and get someone to catch you off guard

Reply 6

yeah same with me. it annoys me where some people are sooo photogenic aswell without even trying. you could catch them scrubbing floors and they would still look great. just practice poses.

Smiling with your mouth open looks much more natural, try doing that in front of a mirror..watch a funny TV show then look at your smile naturally in the mirror. Then try doing that when you're having your photo taken

I am very camera shy. Photos of me are usually awful. I was suprised that all my prom photos came out great to be honest. However my photo for my pass at work is a different story and it didn't help that the person who was taking it was being trained!!

dont try to smile when youre not doing it anyway, youll look ghey

Reply 10

I'm camera shy too, I'm always the one taking the photos and trying almost everything to not be caught in one. I agree that some of the best photos are natural so maybe if you feel relaxed it might help

when you see a camera lens pointing at you...
pick something up off the table(if any) and then put it back down...
works for me...

Reply 12

just put ona big smile everybody looking at the pic would love that, except for morons who will laugh at you smiling

Reply 13

try to keep your eyes looking big and a smile is great if you have a nice one, but find what pose makes you look best in photo's. i find the best is when im looking slightly from the side.

is anyone here camera shy? I do not have so much as one good pic of me. In my 18 years in this world, I have not gotten one good picture. I am just so camera shy, I can’t smile. I just sort of go…blank, with a really dumb (forced looking) grin on my face. Is anyone else like this? Any tips on how to get over it?

thanks

You are not alone- count me in. The only photos in which I look good are the ones which were taken unawares.

I have a "picture smile". It's my normal smile, but slightly forced. Seems to work.

i'm a bit camera shy, i can never produce a convincing smile, it always ends up kind of sarcastic or forced looking. about 1 in every 20 come out ok i find :frown:

i like the european style of photography where you try and look tough and so dont need to smile

Reply 17

well i try not to open my mouth too wide, and yeah better to do it yourself on cam phone or dig camera in the mirror til you get your pose sorted out:smile:

Yeah, i hate getting my photo taken, i look VERY bad in it, whether aware or not. and i hate smiling... - i never smile in photos, personally, i don't get why people smile in photos, i mean, if you're happy, then i understand. But smiling for me is very unatural, and i feel like smiling in photos is decietful as it's just not me. which make me very uncomfortable in front of cameras as i don't know what to do...
any advice?

You're not alone, Hayley, I'm the same!
