Now that everyone will be offering high A-Level grades I think the universities are hard pushed to find other selection criteria for applicants, especially Oxbridge.

Personally, I think the Oxbridge admission process needs a total overhaul.

It won't happen. They are too set in their ways. Plus no one can make them change really. Every year they just think up random things to baffle applicants, and admit the ones that amuse them.

Peterhouse for one has started introducing tests for History applicants; I think that they provide the basis for questioning in interviews.

Yes I know. I think the BMAT is a step in the right direction...also the Critical thinkings skills test is quite good.

Perhaps hey should do what one medical school (St. Georges, I think) did this year for their graduate fast track medical degree. Chucked out 75% of applications and interviewed 150 for 65 places! Can you imagine the furore that would cause if Oxbridge did that?

I'm impressed. A meagre 5.2 and 4.9 I'm afraid. Seems the average was about 4.5

They should really interview fewer candidates.

Yep. The only thing is, that you can buy books from a philosophy bookstore to refine your thinking skills. If all canditates did this, then there would just be no point cos theyd be back to square one.
