    i need help with my chemistry...does anyone know how to prepare cyclohexane or even any sites that give good explanations???PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!!

    You can prepare it by the catalytic hydrogenation of benzene, using high temp or pressure and a very active catalyst in my book it sez:

    C6H6R (R being radical group e.g CH3) --> C6H11R
    using H2 and Pt catalyst at high pressure

    or there is a slightly more complex meathod, the "birch reduction" using sodium or lithium in liquid ammonia and adding ethanol protonises the benzene giving 1,4-cyclohexadiene a rarther complicated looking mechanism is here: http://fachschaft.cup.uni-muenchen.d...ion/birch.html
