Official Cambridge Applicants A-Level results thread - are you in?

I phoned Cambridge, who told me they'd been told I had AAB and as such couldn't confirm my place - they've put me into the Summer Pool.

Grades achieved: Finnish Matriculation Examination: L(=laudatur)LLLLLE(=eximia), comparable to AAAAAAA in A levels

I know I've broken with the standard here, but I'll do a proper one later when I know more.

I HATE EXAM BOARDS. That's how I feel today. Basically, this is how I did:

English: A
History: A
Maths: A

But it's not that simple. I got to school, couldn't understand my exam slip and sat down with my maths teacher only to be told 'I'm sorry Charlotte, you got a B'. But I can't have a B, I said, look at my marks. So she looks...

P1- 90/100
P2- 90/100
P3- 78/100
M1- 90/100
S1- 78/100
S2- 84/100

That's 510 marks. That's an A. Oh yes, she says. After some discussion we discover that Edexcel have added my further maths with my maths and messed it up completely. I phoned Cambridge, who told me they'd been told I had AAB and as such couldn't confirm my place - they've put me into the Summer Pool. My exams officer phoned Edexcel, and told them to sort it urgently. They're VERY slow. As such, we're waiting for confirmation from Edexcel, which then needs to go to Cambridge and I don't even feel like I can celebrate at the moment. It's horrid and so stressful. On one hand I'm delighted with how well I've done, on the other I feel such a mess.

A similar, but reversed, situation happened to me. I was told it happens because of the order which UCAS receives results from Edexcel (they don't, it seems, just get grades from them) which means they add them together in a very non-standard way (like P2 was counted as further maths for me I think). UCAS told them I'd made my offer and Edexcel said I didn't. I argued, eventually the admissions tutor gave in (I don't think he quite believed me though) but it was a very stressful couple of hours. Get your school to fax through the breakdowns, if you've made your offer you've made your offer and they should take you out the pool again. Keep going,, good luck.
