How widely accepted are Maestro/Cirrus cards?

I know that Maestro is the debit card version of Mastercard, but is it accepted everywhere where Mastercard is accepted?

Also, what is Cirrus about? I've just opened a new bank account, and my new card has both the Maestro and Cirrus logos -- I want to know if I can close my old account, with which I had a trusty and universally-accepted Visa Delta card.

Rep to any helpful answers, of course.
i dont know but you can use it at universal studios in florida :smile:

I could even use my Solo card in cash machines in Prague. So I imagine Maestro is very widely accepted (being a more major debit card that Solo)

Cirrus means that you can get money out of cash machines anywhere in the world, as long as they have the Cirrus logo. Maestro is the new name for Switch, so it basically acts in the same way Switch did (ie. as an electronic debit card). The vast majority of places that accept Mastercard will also accept Maestro.
maestro/cirrus can be used pretty much anywhere in the world

Cirrus = cash machines
Maestro = Shop debits

You can pick up a leaflet or brochure from your local bank of places of service.
Be warned however, I did recently come back from a place where my bank clearly stated I could use my card, only for it to be refused.

Maestro is accepted pretty much anywhere, as is Visa and usually MasterCard (unless its a Mint card with that odd shape)

As said above you'll only find the Cirrus logo on cash machines, but you'll usually find the Maestro logo there as well.

(And yes, Electron Sucks.)
