why would that be a problem?

Because I want to do it maybe?
Reply 3
Yeah..i asked why it would be a problem....like why do you think you would get side effects?
Reply 4
One side effect may be jealousy that everybody else is having a good time except you.
Reply 5
No, it won't do anything to you, other than make you healthier.
Reply 6
I know it would be healthier and I know this is an extreme example, but when alcoholics and drug addicts come off it can be really bad. Not quite the same I know, but there must be some badness involved.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper as well which is good when you're skint.

Yeah but they're on it all the time. 2 sessions a week is nothing compared to that. you'll be fine, i did the same.

Was it a success? People are a bit weird about it which annoys me :s

Yeah i prob drink about once a month now if there's an occasion.... the only thing that is annoying is people's attitudes - they seem to think you're a spoil sport for not drinking, but i just think they're extremely sad for thinking you cant have a good time without getting drunk :-\

i know alcholics can suffer from shakes and i think it was coma's as well as sickness. Regular drinkers probabily wont notice any effect, might not feel themselves but it wont make them seriously ill.

Yeah I know what you mean, I've said I'm not drinking on a few evenings out and people look at you like you're insane. Teetotallers don't get criticised so I don't really get it. Not sure I could go clubbing and not drink though.

|What are the side effects of stopping drinking altogether? I don't mean from an alcoholic's point of view, but a studenty one. As in having got drunk once or twice a week for the last couple of years and then stopping one day? :s

Shouldn't be a problem - alcohol isn't a drug that would cause you harm to go cold turkey off anyway, it wouldn't be pleasant but it wouldn't kill you. I drink quite a lot (OK, too much for healthy standards) in term time and drop to practically nothing at all in the holidays and have never noticed a problem.

You don't need drink to have a good time

Side effects would be maybe losing a bit of weight, a better complexion, more energy, and no hangovers

Good point. Also, you can laugh at how crap everyone looks because they're completely off their face  whilst we can carry on looking as good as when we left the house! (or something)

I think I'll put on weight. After a big night out I tend to not eat anything for the whole next day as I feel a tad rough!

Also as well you won't have your beer goggles on so wont pull someon below your usual sober standards, theres not really a bad thing, the only bad thing is (in my case) i really like the taste of alcohol its not the getting drunk part that bothers me i just like the taste the drunk bit is an added bonus
Reply 19
Ah but compare that with the gross amount of calories in alcohol...
