PLEASE HELP Can I retake Year 11 in my circumstances?

PLEASE HELP Can I retake Year 11 in my circumstances?

I have been very ill over year 10 and year 11 - proven with doctors notes - and have missed a lot of work. Teachers at my school have said that if I don't catch up in time I might have to retake year 11 - but have used this more as a threat. In a way I would really like a fresh start, but would I have had to completely failed my current year in order to do so? Would I only be able to if i didnt meet sixth form requirements? Could I choose to retake even if I did get into sixth form? Would I have to take GCSEs this year? And if I did retake the year, would I be able to keep all the work e.g. Coursework that I have done, but just redraft it?

Thanks

Hmm, I think unless you're actually ill on the exam days and you can't sit the exam then you have to do it.
But you should ask, there was someone at my school who was ill during the term before the exams and then the exams so she re-sat the year, I think you'd have to ask them

If I said that I wasnt coping with the workload and that I was so far behind, do you think they would let me retake the year? Also im aiming for A*S As and Bs so if I get say all Cs do you think that they will let me retake if I want to?

If you tell the school the circumstances you will probably have to prove that there is no way you can sit the exams then you will be able to.

The thing is, after this year you don't actually have to be in school, not legally anyway, so if the school say you can't then i suggest you just take the exams and then take a year out and sit them properly next year.

They wont let you do your coursework if you've already done it, it would give you an unfair advantage over the other candidates

This sounds like extreme glandular fever...
i had it for about 4 months, and missed 4 weeks, but anyway back to you.
Erm well gcse's are coming up pretty fast, its a matter of weeks. I would say that if you are that undecided, and want to do well in your exams, then taking the rest of the year out to recover and revise might be best. But you'll be pretty bored for a year and a term learning things you may already know.

a boy who was in the year above me, got C's and below for his GCSE's so didnt get into my schools 6th form (which is where he wanted to go), so he has chosen to re-do year 11 so he is now in my year and doing his GCSEs again. ask your school, its up to them.
