I applied for their actuarial role way back in October and haven't heard anything from it! Still says 'application under review.' Somehow I don't think that's true...

Hey guys, I applied in October, got asked to complete the online assessments in December, Interview end of Feb and Assessment centre in 2 weeks. Maybe try emailing them to ask about the status of your application?

Hey, I have the assessment centre on the 23rd, not looking forward to it after reading what others have said about it =S however as they say we just need to be ourselves and do our best =) sure you'll be fine!! x x

What positions have you guys applied for? Graduate or internship?

I'm still waiting to hear back off my application since last year. Also recently they've completed stopped you being able to log in to your application.

I've applied for the underwriting graduate scheme. I'd assume you haven't been successful if they still haven't been in touch as the assessment centres are nearly over. They have had an excessive number of applicants this year so I guess they just don't reply if you're not successful...otherwise you could maybe ring/e-mail their HR department? Worth a try!!

Hope you have other things lined up though

Well it's the same story at the moment. Waiting on a few applications, been rejected by many. Been to one Assessment Centre for Actuary only to be rejected...

Will give them a ring definately, I already sent an email about it.

I know this thread is old now, but I thought I would throw my hat into the ring and give people like me who were looking at these before my assessment day a heads up... They are really not that bad!!

It is probably the best structured assessment day I have been to, each candidate has their own time table which they stick to throughout the day. The day itself is quite long and intense, but if you are worried about this then I dont think you are ready for full time employment!!!!!

The HR staff are really nice and put you at ease throughout the day. The interviews, role play and business case/presentation all try and test YOU as an individual and how you will respond to situations you are put under. The only thing I found tough was the role play but that was because it was at the end of the day and unlike the other parts you cant really do that much prep for it, as they will try and put you off your stride and see how you can act under pressure.

My tip would just be to be yourself as it is a long day to try and keep up an act and you will get caught out eventually.

Wow great post Robby! I had a similar experience on my assessment day. The HR staff were extremely helpful throughout the day, with a great structured timetable of the tasks you must complete. Don't expect too much in the way of insurance knowledge because you are not expected to have 40 years of experience after a quick browse of the web (but do brush up maybe on the key behaviours and execs of your chosen field). The thing to remeber is that they are assessing you as a person. The tasks are designed to show how you deal with pressure, how innovative you can be in a short period of time, and how confident you are when giving a presentation.

One nice touch is the level of seniority you are exposed to immediately and how well you are catered for at horsely towers. I lived a reasonable distance away and was given free travel, free overnight accomodation, all my meals for the previous day and the following (which were top standard). It is always quite scarey when you attend these assessment centres but with Allianz the pressure is immediately lessened due to the team and that you are not in competition with the other grads there, they will give you all a job if you are good enough.

Do not hesitate in applying, but remember to be confident and especially on the role play seek to solve problems not create conflicts!

Hi Robby and Andy,

Thanks for your tips! I will be attending an AC with Allianz this Wednesday, I think the structure of the AC is the same as you did 2 years ago. I just wonder for the business cases analysis and presentation, was there a time limit for the presentation? And how much time you have got to prepare? More importantly, was it an individual task or group work? Cheers! ~

Anyone attending Allianz's AC next week?

Reply 16

Anyone have any feedback on the structure of the assessment centres over the last couple of years?

Reply 17

Not sure about the last couple of years but I just got invited to the assessment centre in Feb and it looks like it comprises an interview, business case, presentation, then group exercise. Based on everyone else's replies it doesn't look like it's changed much over the years.

Thank you! So no role play? What are you applying for by the way?

Reply 19

No problem

Looks like the 'business case' is the role play where you play the role of a recent Allianz joiner and analyse some information which then leads on to the presentation part.

I've applied for the Underwriting scheme, I'm assuming you went for Actuarial based on your username?
