...going out dressed in cowgirl gear for a friends bday????!!

I've got 2 friends who are having a joint bday session on the town and they've decided to make it cowgirl/boy themed so everyone has to dress up. Now i like fun but i just find this incredibly tacky. I don't want to go (its even on a-levels result night so everyone will think we've just passed or something :-\) but if i say why i dont want to go they'll ***** at/about me. I know it's for their birthday and all but...meh.

Say you've got really bad cramps. But that might only work on men.

You have to weigh up if looking tacky is worth your friends *****ing about you. I personally wouldn't care, and if they're the type of 'friends' who will ***** about you they're not worth going to their party.

Wouldn't you just wear cowboy boots and a cowboy hat? That way you can take the hat off once you are out and maybe you won't feel 'tacky'. I think you should go if it is for your two friends birthdays plus they will probs want you there! I don't really know how you can get out of this one maybe you could just be ill hehe x

Yeah you can just wear a cowboy hat and a regular shirt and jeans and just take off the hat, then you won't look tacky.

It'd require more than a hat and boots. Plus i dont have any of that stuff so it'll end up expensive. Ugh. They'll moan. Oh well. Plus my ex and his girlfriend (who i really dislike and she has a real problem with me) will be going and so that's going to put a downer on the whole thing. If i tell them that they'll just tell me not to let him ruin it. GAH.

If you don't want to go, then don't go, because there's no point in going if you're not going to have fun.

I think a distant relative of some sort may be visiting you on that night... or something like that...

Why would it take more than a hat & boots? Cowgirls wear jeans.

( Don't think CHAT will be happy about this thread  )

Just wear a check shirt, jeans and boots, and claim you lost your hat on the bus.

I really, really hate fancy dress parties. Everyone looks like a ****.

Haha. Nah..you see the trouble with only just scraping by on an outfit is that people might think you actually dress like that. If you go all out its obvious you're doing fancy dress.

So there's no way to go without looking like a cowgirl, and no way to not go without them *****ing at you?

Sounds like you've gotta bite a bullet.

Just get a hat and say you're too poor to get the rest of it. I guarantee most of the people going out will not be in full cowgirl gear. Buy the birthday girls a couple of big drinks and they'll soon forgive you.
