British couple jailed in Dubai for kissing in public.

Its always the British who think they can break the laws and do whatever they want, never heard of a french or German being arrested in Dubai, I dont care if it sounds crazy to jail a couple for kissing, but the fact that these people (the British) just cant control their emotions and feelings, they give us a bad name (sex addicts/manics) :mad:

A BRITISH couple have been handed jail terms in Dubai after being reported to cops for stealing a kiss in a restaurant.
Pretty tourist Charlotte Lewis, 25, and marketing executive Ayman Najafi, 24, say all he did was peck her on the cheek.

But a local woman claimed she and her children saw them kissing on the lips and stroking each other's backs - and was so outraged she called cops.

The stunned pair were arrested at packed Bob's Restaurant and accused of breaching the Muslim state's strict honour and modesty laws.

They were each sentenced to a month in prison followed by deportation.

i think they must have done more than kissing in order to get that sentence....dubai is conservative when it comes to things like this but i dont think theyd do sumthn like that to people that have kissed in public. after being questioned, the couple must have admitted to doing more which isnt really being told to us lol.
like one time a couple had sex on a beach...thats bang out of order.

As for the law of a kiss on the cheek, i think they are bigger idiots and i do not respect their laws, especially when they are so ******* ridiculous. If the couple had been having sex on the table, then yeah it's understandable, but a kiss on the cheek? Gimme a break.....

First of all, I don't really believe this story at all. Plenty of tourist couples visit Dubai all the time. So they either did a lot more than just a peck on the cheek, or something somewhere along the line is false.

Secondly, if that's the actual law and they broke it, I'm afraid that's how the justice system works. I don't much agree with there being a law against 'kissing in public', but then, if you visit a country, you have to abide by their laws or face the judicial system. That's just the way it is. Whether you agree with it or not is another thing.

Bloody hell, that's a bit harsh. I think part of it, at least, is cultural relativism - what is found to be normal in British culture clearly isn't in the Dubai culture (Middle Eastern?) - so we can't just say 'Omg Dubai = bunch of ******* idiots blahblah' because they could just as easily think the same about other cultures that do things different to them. Even so, it is still harsh, :\ the whole sentence thing. It's not like the couple KNEW about the rule and broke it.. or did they? :s-smilie:
