Teeth Whitening

I wanted to get my teeth whitened, but I don't know how to go abouty doing this. Do you go to a dentist, an orthodontist, or a cosmetic surgery? And how "white" do your teeth actually become? I mean, I really don't want that fake, florecent white smile! And how much do they cost around?
Sorry for so many questions!

Have you tried whitening toothpastes like pearl drops. Might be a start to see how white you want them and might be a cheaper and healther way to go about it.
getting it done at the dentists is VERY expensive (a few hundred per tooth?) but toothpastes are no where near strong enough. my drunken advice is win the lottery. i really wish i had whiter teeth too :frown:

Wow. I was thinking the figure was near something like £200 or something. I swear that just sounds too expensive  I hope its not really the case...sorry. Otherwise I'm gonna have to start saving
I wouldn't go for anything than something called Britesmile. www.britesmile.co.uk - costs from 500 to 600GBP. I'm getting it done wednesday morning.

EDIT: forgot to mention. If your teeth are quite stained, it can get something like 9 shades whiter. Mine are quite clean already, but I reckon I can get maybe two, possibly three shades whiter.
Also, before you do any of this, make sure you get your teeth, gums, etc, properly cleaned and fixed if anything needs fixing.

If you're from England, they have a selection of whitening pastes/gels/pens at Boots that start from around £15.00, and they are supposed to be really effective. I'm sure if you typed "teeth whitening products" into google, you'd also find some websites that sell such products as well, and you could then order them off the internet. Obviously, going to the dentist's and having them whitened there would produce the best results, but i think DIY kits aren't too bad, considering their relative price. Hope this helps

You could get the teeth bleach stuff. I'm not sure how healthy it is or how well it actually works as I haven't tryed it yet. Pearl drops toothpaste in my experiance has not worked. I used it for over a year and nothing happened. I've found alot of the whitening toothpastes have not worked (the ones I have used did not work the rest I'm not bothering with now). Try something like Vitint Safe & White Whitening Gel. These kind of things can be expensive but if they do work they will be saving you hundreds of pounds in the long run as dentel whitening at the dentist or for cosmetic surgery can be hundreds or thousands of pounds to do. Hope that helps you.

I fail to see how your comment is minimally helpful to the thread and in all honesty, am rather offended by it. Anyway, it was asked I answered, and provided an option, which I believe is actually quite good for the price, considering it lasts a couple of years and only takes an hour to do. It actually improves the health of your teeth as well. It whitens them and doesn't harm them in anyway, which is what the OP wanted I believe.
YOu are aware of the aftermath later in life aren't you?

I'm not syaing your teeth are going to fall out, but to whiten your teeth isn't exactly good for them. And you can't really compare it to sipping a can of coke!

Me too. My teeth are a bit stained from not developing until very late (got adult teeth when I was 15), the many antibiotics I had as a baby, lack of calcium as a baby too. I brush every morn and neet. I was born prematurely and that's why I have the tooth problems and the scar from my trachioctomy

Anyway I thought they were free for full time students or something like that? My dentist asked me about two years ago did I want it done, I think it woulda been free on the NHS (since I was 17/18 at the time). I declined though cos I didnt care, everyone already knew what my teeth were like, and I dont think they would have cared if I had them whitened, probably would have noticed it more.

There are various names such as BriteSmile and some others I cant remember. It lasts 3 years and uses ultra sound to shake the **** off the teeth.

Actually BriteSmile are the only ones who do it with their patented light. They use nothing like ultrasounds...

Actually, I think that it is worth that amount to change something that you don't like about yourself. What is £500 to raising your confidence and making you happier with your appearance? Unless there is a health risk, I will definately do it!
Good luck fonzievision, tell me how it goes and if you like it and recommend it!

Whats the point of getting your teeth whitened? wtf

People are dieing all over the world, there is so much suffering and all you can do is worry about getting your teeth ****** whitened!

I mean £500 / £ 600 on teeth - give to people in need, don't waste it.

Actually teeth Whitening is the next best way to waste your money on nothing!
