Hi, I'm a first year too, so any questions fire away! I'm in the business school doing Events Management at Maritime campus and I live at home and commute. So anyone with questions about those things feel free to ask!
Tell me that Freshers actually exists at this University, because it doesn't look like it does!

Also, which Accom do you stay in? Which is the nearest supermarket (apart from M&S downstairs LOL)

What do you study?

Cheers!

We had a freshers week, freshers wrist band (money off things, random texts to get to the union shop and get a free hoodie) and freshers ball at a club in the o2. So yeah it does exist but with London right there it often comes down to 'hang out with freshers who just want to suck faces and break things' or 'go to nice club up town and dance without a spotty 18 year old, first time away from mummy, vomiting on your new shoes.' But that just just be me! haha.

I have friends who are in Mcmillan which is the further away one, there are other unis in there too, like Goldsmiths because its a Unite I think. No one I have spoken to likes halls, Cutty Sark say there are huge rats because of the food places underneath it like weatherspoons and McDs and Mcmillan say that they get charged for every little thing, little hot water and last week the fire alarm was going off for 4 hours on a thursday morning!

But I don't live there so I get told the bad things I suppose!

Quite a few people get the bus into Lewisham to get food because they have bigger supermarkets and there is an iceland about a 10-15 minute walk towards the A2.

Hey I hope someone here can help me with this, I applied to the uni of greenwich but I accidently chose the wrong campus.I wanted to choose the greenwich campus instead I chose the one in medway and i have already received a conditional offer from them. Is there any way I can transfer to the campus in greenwich instead of the medway campus if i accept their offer? :s-smilie:
If you are referring to applying for Accomodation, and you have already sent your application then you would be best to call the Acc services and tell them your error so they can correct it.

What do you study in events management? What jobs can you get afterwards?? Also what's it like studying at Greenwich? I just applied and got places for Business Management but am changing my course as i cant think of anything worse than doing business management for 3 years!! Any info is greeeeat as I am so so so stuck between Events Management and Public Relations!!

Thanks ))))
I don't know if anyone knows anything about this, but I've accepted an unconditional for children's nursing, they've sent me confirmation and an accomodation book but no mention of Occ. Health checks, I'd like to get ti done cause I have health issues I will probably need an interveiw as well.. anyone know when they do it ? Kingston sent me Occ. Health forms with their offer !
Thought this should be bumped as everyone is getting their accom offers etc!Has anyone going to Avery hill recieved an accom offer?

Also were expected to move in on the 18-19th....but it says my course starts on the 20th.Does this mean no proper freshers week?!I didnt expect to be in lectures etc the next day lol.xx
Yep I'm going to be at Avery Hill, doing nursing, we start on the 1st of Sept lol! There's 2 weeks of freshers for the regualr uni students, your start date probably means the start of freshers not lectures. x
See thats what I thought but I have to be at a lecture hall at 9am on the 20th!Praying for induction hehe. Ohh I bet youre looking forward to it!Have you heard anything from accomodation yet?xx

Well I can tell you that my first day last year was the 21st, we had a week of induction stuff, meeting the rest of your class, making sure you're registered and know where things are. I think we got the Friday off then the next week was lectures but no seminars because some seminars were before the lecture and you wouldn't have anything to talk about yet (if you see what I mean).
But all of that may only apply to the Business School.
Hmm Who knows! I feel rather uninformed tbh haha Yeah I have an unconditional so I got an accommodation offer yesterday (Y) I'm SO excited now
I hate not knowing where Im living!I have an unconditional but havent heard :frown:
You should hear anyday now then, in the letter it just says all the terms and condiitons and then you have to pay a deposit to accept your place.
I hope. Argh, how much is the deposit?I might have to get my dad to pay it until i get my loan through and can pay him back lol!x

I live in London and University of Greenwich is my insurance choice. If I do end up there would it be advisable to stay at home or move into accomodation. I live in South West London.

Secondly, how is the sport, football like at University of Greenwich? Is it taken seriously?

How are the lectures planned out and how do students plan themselves during weekdays at university?

Thanks

Ok for your first question, I commute to uni and I know a lot of people do. As long as you make friends with people in halls then you will have somewhere to crash and I've made a group of friends who all commute so we generally go out together and crash at each other's.
So yeah, it was the ideal solution for me, because the halls are expensive, not that nice (student accommodation never is) and this way I can save money.
You have to consider how good your transport links are, I am in the South East so I am very lucky to have a direct train to Greenwich but now I drive because it worked out cheaper most days and quicker.

On lectures: I had 1 hour lecture per module except the form time type one (its called PPD, personal professional development) which doesn't have a lecture. I had 4 modules, 3 core and 1 optional, so 4 hours of lectures plus 4 hours of seminars and 1 hour of PPD. One module was only half a year so finished at Xmas leaving just 7 hours a week.

On sports: I didn't do any so can't help you there except Wednesday afternoons is when there are no lessons so that's sports time.
Hello! I will be going to the University of Greenwich in September! Its the only place i applied for because its close to my home and i need to carry on working at my current job. I will be commuting to the Medway campus but it doesnt really count because its a 6 minuite journey! yay! :yep:

Medway Campus!

Can anyone give me information about what your freshers week was like if you are at the medway campus?

Has anyone studied Human Nutrtion at Greenwich? If you have can you tell me a little more about the course! If not can you tell me more about the science department and the teaching overall at Medway?

Basically any information on the medway campus you think i shoud know

And you dont have to warn me about the medway towns because I have lived here for all my 20 years and I Love it :P Its my home! I know all the best Clubs/Bars/Restaurants ect  But any more info  Feel free to englighten moi!

xxx Thanks
