Need girls help/advice please - my girlfriends feelings towards me

A few weeks ago my other half was out and some guy she knows came on to her, she pushed him away etc and then the next day emailed her to apologise and what not, basically spilling out his heart to her about the way he feels. I trust her and i know that he isnt a threat/problem!
But it took me almost a week to question what happened... she was meant to be meeting me for a mates 21st but never turned up, i thought nothing of it until i saw the beginning of the email! Finally brought it up and she showed me the email and said sorry for not telling me at the time, she just didnt want to upset me for no reason.
Ever since then, things have been awkward. We've been together 4 years and lived together for 1. Little things like affection etc seem to be lacking on her half, shes usually really affectionate and im not but just now its the other way around. I asked her if she still had feelings for me and said yes, i think we're both bouncing off each other... she knows somethings bothering me which is affecting her and so on like a vicious circle, i just dont want to come across like i dont trust her and at the same time i want to give her her own space but i really feel uncomfortable!
Sorry for the long story, im just looking for some serious female advice! Im scared to ask her anything else in case she thinks im overly insecure or something. We've never been through anything like this.
