I'm thinking of doing a pub quiz for charity (see sig) but can't think of what to do for prizes.
If 50 people play at £1 each and play to win half that money with the other half going to charity then a team of 5 would only win £5 each so doesn't seem worth it...
Pub quiz prizes are always a bit crap as long as i've known. Or at they've been fun, cheap and cheerful. No-one ever complains 'cos it's just a bit of a laugh.
Is there anyway you could wangle a free round of drinks as part of the prize? That would go down well.

I used to take part in a weekly pub quiz and the winning team would answer a question to win the prize money and if they got it wrong the money rolled over to the next week. The prize money got to £960 one week I've never played any other pub quizzes though so don't know what the prizes are usually like
Round of drinks is a good idea, I'll have to ask my local if they'll do it.
what is even the point of doing a pub quiz when every other person owns an iphone.
the last one i went to every single team was looking up the answers. your gonna have to use questions/games where they cant google the answer...the one i went to there was one section you couldnt google which made it better

Picture/music rounds are generally pretty good for that
My local does really good prizes, hundreds of pounds worth of ****, before Christmas and just after New Year.
Still, I saw a pub quiz once where the prize was a certain time behind the bar. One man would then use his time to get as many shots out of the optics as he could, pour beer, throw over bags of crisps and so forth. Quite good fun to watch.
You make it clear that phones are to be turned off and put in pockets or handbags. If a phone is even seen then that team is disqualified immediately. It may seem serious but fairness has to apply even at a fun quiz. I run quizzes for my bowls club and it works.Keith
