Thanks.

Do you think they might let me onto a less popular course like Classics so I can pick up Lit later?

Well when you apply, aren't you applying to the faculty technically, and that is in the same faculty?
I'm not sure, perhaps see what comes up in clearing?

Why are so many Humanities subjects not in Extra at Glasgow, but many science subjects as well as Accounts subjects (which need like 5 As at Higher) are?
Sciences (or maybe just certain sciences) are often undersubscribed, whereas social sciences and humanities usually have more than enough applicants.

And accounts is boring...

Even Czech and Public Policy?! :p:
Haha, you'd probably be surprised!

There are 200 people in my Public Policy lectures this year!
Good luck with calling them, let us know how you get on. I know how desperate you are for this place! :console:

Another factor to consider is the ridiculous amount of applicants this year means that many people applying that are more than good enough are nonetheless being rejected by their first, second, and sometimes even third and fourth choice Unis, meaning many people whose first choices aren't Glasgow will end up going to Glasgow.

I'd go with reapplying next year if you really want it. They'll be more likely to offer you a place if you have the grades needed already - safer bet for them.

So where do you go from here? Go spend half of 2011 working as a holiday rep somewhere sunny like the Balearic Islands, making a bit of cash and having a lot, and i assure you it is a LOT, of sex, and you'll be juuuuust fine.

Sounds like a good idea actually, I might ask to defer myself. Sorted

Sounds good indeed. :p: Although, Classics has very high success rates compared with English, so I'm going to ask to be let on that course instead. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: look at this!

47% of people who applied for Classics at OXFORD got in last year!! I hope they'll consider me. :frown:

Yeah but at Oxford the joke's on them, because once they've got accepted for Classics chances are they'll then have to study it as well. And no-one wants to do that, really.

Good luck though. Who knows, maybe we'll meet in a lecture next year!
Did you call them?

Did you call them?

I will when I get home from school. :shh: I'm really tired so I'll need a coffee first to be alert :awesome:
They said no.
At least you tried
ArcadiaHouse
They said no.

Is that all the said? Or did they give you a reason?
Hard luck. :frown: It was worth ringing if it'd put your mind at rest though, else you'd probably constantly be thinking "what if."

They said it's because I sat my Highers over two years. However, if I get good grades this year and I call up on 5th August and they have extra places, they might offer me one.

In any case, I will transfer to Glasgow after my first year at another university, so all is not lost.
What happened in the end? Did you go to Glasgow?

Thanks for resurrecting this thread :colonhash:

Yes, I did get into Glasgow in the end, but not by begging. I went somewhere else, then transferred.
