Christ Church all the way

Anyone applying for Law with Law Studies in Europe?

MaddiMcMurray
Oh no, you're like my direct competition - I've applied for Law with Law studies in Europe at Christ Church... To be perfectly honest I'll be lucky if I even get an interview. D:

Good luck!

Howellsy
Yeh, but just to show some initative, because you get considered for the normal 3-year Law course anyway. Not expecting to get one of those very few places for Law with EU.

Thought I'd quote you all  Hello fellow Christ Church LSEers!

Which course have you all applied to then? French for me

Grrr... For some reason Person VUE called me today and told me that I had to reschedule my LNAT exam on the eleventh hour due to the unavailability of the exam venue! >_<

The only other alternative test venue only has slots on 1st November. The question is, can I take my LNAT on 1st November if I am applying to Oxford? On the LNAT website, it states Oxford applications are to sit the LNAT by 1st Nov latest (which theoretically includes 1/11), but on the Oxford Law website, it was mentioned that candidates are to sit the LNAT before 1/11.

So can I take my LNAT on 1st November? :frown:

I don't think you can. I would ring Pearson Vue back and refuse to get off the phone until they give you an October slot.

i'm a pretty standard candidate really  fingers crossed for an interview!

My GCSE results are quite below the Oxford standard. I did my GCSEs in 2007 though. There was an "exceptional circumstance" involved but I haven't mentioned it anywhere on my application because I feel the nature of it is completely inappropriate!

Open Application as part of me can't be bothered researching them all over again, and another part doesn't want to after last year's debacle.
Hope I get an interview, would be nice to show my face.

LNAT on the 31st because that's how I ******* roll.

I made an open application myself. Was considering Magdalen but was kinda put off by competition. In hindsight, probably not the best idea :s-smilie: .

What might a good score for the LNAT be since they've upped the number of questions? (42/42 wouldn't be too bad heh heh)

Well 20/30 seemed to be the general cut off going from TSR (but people did get in with 19)

20/30= 66.66%
42/100=0.42.
0.42*67= 28ish.

If we say that 17 was the old average, we get 23/24 out of 42 as the new average.

But how it will actually work no-one knows.

Hopefully, I get 42/42 (or more realistically, more than 30) and don't have to worry about the LNAT affecting anything  )
EDIT: By "more realistically" I mean more realistic than 42, not as in it's realistic to think I'll get 30+. I assume 30+ with a decent essay and a good overall application would get you an interview.)

Woo I've applied to nearly the same universities as you, but with Birmingham instead of Sheffield

Oh and I'm doing German (hopefully) :yep:

Haha, I was going to apply for Birmingham - weird! Which do you prefer out of the remaining 4 then?

And good news on the German front, means we can be friends and not competition :p:
Krillin
Brasenose guys.

You're a man/woman of good taste. Not the Brasenose bit, mind. We've applied to the exact same universities, haha.

You tend to find that grades and test scores are a bit inflated on TSR. I know people who got in with as low as 16 on the multiple choice but obviously it depends on an amalgamation of factors. 20/30 would have been regarded as a good score but usually not a "cut off point" or a necessity.

Oxford, UCL, King's, Birmingham and Warwick, in that order :yep:

Yep, and I have yet to meet/hear of anyone else doing german (not that I'm gonna complain )

Have you done your LNAT yet? My essay was an absolute flop, hope I haven't already blown my chances with the top 4 of my 5 choices :s-smilie:

Ah I'm so different to your order! Mine's Oxford, Warwick/King's (I can't decide and just hope I can an offer from at least one!), UCL, Sheffield. What didn't you like about Warwick, or do you just prefer the others?

Same, makes me naively happy that maybe I'm the only person applying haha :p:

Nope, mine's a week tomorrow - don't make me want to cry with nerves :frown: Though I'm sure you didn't!

Oh thank god for that! I was getting about 20/30 on the old papers and on the first new style paper on the lnat site I got 26/42 (so about 18.5 out of 30). Really scared the LNAT is going to ruin my application to Oxford (Balliol) and Bristol, since those are the only two unis on my application I'm actually in love with! But I have 10 A*s, 2 As and a B at GCSE and I'm predicted 2A*s and 2As at A2 with 4 As at AS level, so even if I drop a little lower with the LNAT, do you think they'll still consider me? My LNAT is tomorrow, too, so I'm slightly bricking it tonight!!

Well if it makes you feel any better, I got 19 and that was clearly enough for me. Don't forget there are many other parts to your application. Your grades seem top notch so I wouldn't worry too much.

Hi Becki, we're applying to practically all the same unis for the same course! (Except I've applied to Sheffield not Nottingham)

How are you feeling about then LNAT? I've got mine a week today and I'm nervous as hell! Which one do you prefer out of your other choices?
