I've decided to do my extended essay on CPU cache memory. But I'm stuck on what to focus on even further on this topic, any ideas?
An example can be; how does cache memory affect game performance?

I'm planning to do some testing aswell, so I'd appreciate any ideas on what things to test for by using cache size as a changing variable.

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't go for "how does cache memory affect game performance?", as to be honest it would hardly make much difference in games. I would suggest looking at the levels of L1 and L2 cache on integer math and floating point calculations. However, if you are looking to do a practical test then you'll ideally need to find two cpus with the same core/clock speed, but more L2 cache. A good example of this could be say a Newcastle and Clawhammer core athlon 64 (if you can find them ). Then just just run each chip through flops or pifast or something and compare the difference

Thanks eroded, I'll look into that. Do you think its worth testing file compression? Probably no good cause of the constant stream of data...
