A wide variation of caffeine levels (excluding decaffeinated samples) were observed:
tea ranged from less than 1 mg to 90 mg of caffeine per serving (mean 40 mg)

Just did an extraction today, with pg tips. I made it 43mg per teabag.

I've done investigation and in PG tea bag containing 2.9 g of a tea leafs. (Determination of caffeine concentation via UV spec -> dichloromethane).
It shows that tea bag brewed for 3 minutes in 200 ml of boiling water contain 40.1 mg of caffeine -> 0.21 mg per ml. :smile:

average cuppa contains just 40mg of caffeine 35mg fewer than a cup of instant coffee, and 60-75mg fewer than that of filter coffee.

You may want to check the date of this thread. It's 7 years old.

@judyjen Thanks.

@Tiger Rag So, caffeine content magically goes up or down over time? Caffeine content isn't relevant after 7 years? 11 years later I have the same question, and now I have 2 data points at ~40mg instead of 1.

Instead of arbitrarily complaining about dates, maybe you could contribute or say thanks to people providing valuable information?
