I find that if I really understand a topic then cases studies will come as second nature when remembering for an exam for example. What case studies do you need to learn?

Just learn them like you'd revise normally. That's what I do. Although my revision technique is pretty epic :P.

Haha I've written this in another thread today.

I cover my bedroom wall in paper, and just scribble across them. It's the same as making notes, but slightly more creative. It also means when I enter my room I get attacked with revision notes, rather than having to find them to get them out.

Failing that, I read the book on the morning of the exam. :woo:

I draw spider diagrams of all my lectures, then add relevant literature to cite for the exam...and repeat!

I condensed the notes on each one so they were as short as possible, and then I chose about 8 case studies (out of 22 or something) to learn properly, using some method which I have now forgotten. It worked though. :borat:

Highlight the key information from the source (your notes, book etc), such as the location, date, hazard type, cause, effect and response and condense the information onto a smaller note card.

I usually have about 3/4 of a page on them broken up into some separate subheadings: causes, social impacts, economic impacts, short term & long term responses - things like that, and I'll write a few bullet points on each. I normally try to put as many specific facts and figures in there as I can and learn it that way.

Well, for my Industry part I have learn about a place called Teeside. The best way for me is to make notes on a blank piece of paper then print pictures off the internet and cut and stick them into your notes. So, for me and Teeside, I need to remember their trade is extraction of raw metals which is turned into things like ships. So I have a picture of a ship in my notes, and I then know that there is high unemployment due to more competitive prices for heavy metals from places in the East so I have a Chinese flag in my notes.

Flicking through these notes before the exam will make the pictures stick in your head and consequently the case study.
Hope that helps! x

I split the parts of the case study into manageable pieces such as "primary economic effects" and "secondary environmental effects" and "primary responses".

I then put these onto flash cards and because they are such specific parts, there isn't much to have to learn for each of them.

This makes it just like learning simple stuff on a flash card app and it works really well for me .

Give it a try and I hope this helps x

im really struggling with geography aswell and I have tried flashcards and it doesn't work for me also I don't understand the fieldwork part of the examslike what I am supposed to do

Hey I’m guessing ur doing ur gcse this year if so good luck cos i am too but basically fieldwork is like where they’ll ask you questions on places you’ve been on field trips and they’ll ask like what were the risk factors of going to this place so you would say for eg if there’s a lot of traffic, cars and moving vehicles r dangerous. Hope this helps (: @Fudge130

I'm making mindmaps/posters of each one so I can quickly read them every other day and test myself. They are also fun to create with lots of cool fonts and pictures so I don't get bored and stop making them.
