Your university will send you a list in time, I wouldn't buy any until that arrives, and even then probably not until you actually get to university, unless they insist you've read them beforehand.

Only joking. If Pompey are anything like manchester, you won't get your reading list til you're introductory lectures. Don't get tricked into buying all their books straight away cos they deem them essential! From my experience, they aren't really essential and i'm sure the royalties the lecturers who write the books get fromthe booksales has something to do with it.

Wait a while to see which books you're using, the library usually has a load. If there are some books that you're finding you eed a lot, have a lok round your department first of all for any posters, there's usually loads of posters advertising books for sale from the year above.

Failing that, try amazon and ebay. They're so much cheaper than the book shops on campus.

I second the above two posts. Alot of the 'essential' books on my reading list were not essential at all (some were completely useless in fact).

I did what was suggested above and used the library, only buying the books that I found I used alot and found very useful.
