Well, sorta. Basically whatever rooms are left after the room ballot are distributed amongst the freshers. Thankfully for you lot previous "worst" accomodation in college - "lynda grier", under the library - was used for the last time last year and is now becoming part of the library, so Deneke is as bad as it gets now. Which isn't all that bad, really.

hmmm...anyone at LMH know where to get drinking water from, apart from the canteen? When i was up there in December the only place i was told was the canteen, and it was closed at 9pm so had to go into town, to Mc Donalds to buy drinking water:eek: - surely there's an alternative resource of drinking water in college?

It's called a well and drinking your own urine.

Congrats on getting into Oxford (traitor).
Normally, your college office area might have some provisions- i.e if the building is accessible like at my college.
Or near the library.

is the tap water not safe to drink? or is this one of those hopelessly american things to drink water from the tap? or phil being phil?
I drink tap water from the kitchen... but not the one at my bathroom.

a reasonable plan.

111 is my favorite number.
Congrats on getting that elusive number- it's one of my least favourites- the other being 13.

yeas - 111 is a bad luck number in cricket too  tis said a wicket will fall...
adding constructively - i drink the water from the tap in my room, and dont find any problems with it.
Also, if anyone has been considering filters (cant be bothered to read back and see...)
they hardly do anything to the water...it just tastes nicer because you keep it cold in the fridge!
I have seen wickets fall at 111! And some batsmen are absolutely scared of that number, esp if they are past a century or the team is doing badly with 5 wickets down.
I distinctively remember seeing a triple hat trick at 111 in a SA match.

a hat trick? wow!
i would be surprised if someone had a century by the point of 111 tho
another one for many is 87, since its 13 from a century - so i suppose you can relate to that
personally when i'm batting, when i get past 23, my lucky number, i know i'm gonna get a big score
then i usually hole out next shot :frown:
My illustrious brother would do well if he got past 0. But he did that only once and scored 11 runs. Needless to say, the team lost all the matches they played (I think it was an MCR one) & their highest score was in the 30s  .
The proteas lost the match too.

ouch! sounds like the local team i play for...
its our local third team, and we're a small town playing significantly larger towns...
so, you have 5 fifty year old men, 2 12 year olds and a couple more my age (not always a full team :frown:)
hence, we are the whipping boys of the south west wales cricket league...
12 year olds :p:

yea - they just stand a long long way away from the wicket and avoid any ball that is going with enough power to cross the boundary rope...
one of them is a fairly decent spinner tho...but they cant bat for toffee and i end up having consistant not outs as a result...
