Using a priority remark from, say, AQA - if a remark turns your grade set into one which meets a missed University offer; does the University still have to accept you, or is their decision based on your first grades as they came final?

No, of course the university have to accept you if your grade changes so that you meet the requirements then. The priority remark is made so that pupils who have missed out on a University place have the chance to have their paper remarked and their results back very quickly so the university can accept you if they have made a mistake! It costs more, but its necessary if your place is on the line! When you get the remark, and if it has gone up, its best to ring the Uni and tell them the situation. Maybe even before you send off for a remark, tell them your intentions and see what they can do for you!

Durham University is 25 people over-subscribed; so they introduced a University-wide complete rejection policy for near-miss students no matter what the subject is.

I missed my offer by 6 UMS points (6 out of 600) - and I am sure a remark would get me those.

However, I don't want it to be a waste.

Why not ring Durham and ask them?
