Should I be dissapointed?

ok this is in health stuff because I need to get over this mentally.
I feel really kinda depressed, I've worked so hard this year for my physics A2, last year I've worked hard but not as hard as this year ,I got an A, but my unit 5 mark was dissapointing it was 63/90 which is an exact B if I only got an A in this one I might get an A over all,it's really putting me down, yesterday I was happy and all but i feel there is something missing as if I don't deserve to be happy for getting a B overall I got a B in As but an A in A2, whenever somebody asks I don't know hat to tell them , I say I got an A this year but last year's mark lowered it to a B. :frown:
i feel that I'm dumb, I mean all of this hard work and yet I couldn't manage to achive a high A that enables me to get an A over all, while it seems really really easy for some people to scarb an A ,with out putting same work. I mean in one of the modules (phy6) I've achieved a really high mark, but i don't even feel I deserve it,or that it really matters.
I feel so in-intelligent and fake :frown:

:hugs: Don't be so hard on yourself! People slip. Do you know how happy I would be if I got a B in Physics? (didn't take it, but if I did) You're obviously intelligent. And it's only A-Levels - uni is what matters!

Think of it this way - there're people out there who might've worked their socks off or not worked at all - and then ended up not being able to go to their first choice nui, or having to go through clearing. So be happy with what you've got  You've worked hard and done excellently. There're people out there who need to work maybe twice as hard as you did and may still only end up with a D.

:hugs: don't be so hard on yourself.

why would you be banned,I'm not expecting people to tell me i'm so intelligent, I really want to know if I should be happy, I mean wroking 24/7 and not scrabbing a full mark is so far from being intelligent

I think you have to just get over it, not everyone is perfect. or maybe if you feel you did better you can get a remark? a B doesnt make you unintelligent, just keep telling yourself that. if it does then im as thick as two short planks...

basically, has not getting an A stopped you from doing anything, like have you been rejected from uni or something? i did my a levels a couple of years ago and was devastated when i didnt get an A in my french, just because one module's marks were very low, and i worked really hard, but really, i thought a b is not gonna kill me or stop me from doing what i want to do. being a perfectionist 100% of the time isnt good for you.

maybe this one module just exceeded your capabilities? and you have to accept that?

oh and in case you havent guessed, my answer to your thread title "should i be disappointed?" is "of course not! get a grip and put things into perspective"
imo its crazy to ask if u should feel happy or dissapointed. Youre clearly dissapointed with your grade - so youre dissapointed. Other people who maybe would have been really happy with a B would suggest that you should be happy with it, but why is that relevant to how YOU feel about your grade. If YOU think its ****, then you think its ****. Its gay to think you should be feeling a certain way according to what the average candidate would feel about getting a B

true, not everone is the same but in the grand scheme of things a b is not the end of the world and you shouldnt beat yourself up about it. i dont think your real question is how you should be feeling, it is am i stupid, to which the obvious answer is no, because you got a hatful of high marks in a difficult a level and a respectable grade overall. you probably dont feel like its acceptable now, and there are practical things you can do to combat this like contact the exam board if you think you really did do better. but mentally, i think if youre gonna be a perfectionist you have to accept that no-one, absolutely no-one, gets 100% of what they want 100% of the time, you will always have goals that you will miss out on slightly, or that are unattainable.

I was having a conversation about this sort of thing with a friend last night...

We were talking about how everyone lets grades dictate their lives, and how that 'A' can make you feel incredibely happy or sad, and how a lot of people assume that their self-worth is only equal to how they do on standardised testing. But, while 'perfect' grades can give you opportunities, so can being a nice, well-rounded person. A 'B' does not dictate how intelligent you are or aren't. In a few years, that B will be almost incosequential to your life.

Yeah I know what you mean. A friend of mine is devastated cos he didn't get straight A's, yet my cousin is over the moon with a C and 2 D's. It all depends on your own expectations and not what other people think. It's hard to say you're disappointed with a grade without offending someone else who is dead chuffed to have got the same grade. It's a toughie!
"i think if youre gonna be a perfectionist you have to accept that no-one, absolutely no-one, gets 100% of what they want 100% of the time,"

Hey guys sorry about the improper quoting im not very forum savvy lol:smile:
I too was gutted to find I had got 2B's in the two subjects that are most relevant to my degree and hopefully future, and also felt I deserved it considering the work I put in however I do not wish to offend anyone and realise the two sides to the argument. I have been talking to friends and relatives over the last few days and the quotes I have choosen above from this thread basically sum up the advice I have recieved.
The fact of the matter is, it doesnt matter how many people tell you you shouldnt be dissapointed you still will be. It has happened to 1000's of people all over the country and just like them we will both have to get over it!
