Tuition fee loan £0.00?!!

Ive applied for student finance and just checked the progress of my application, i've got to the screen where it shows you what you've requested and what you're entitled to, it says;

Maintenance Loan (Maximum requested) £3,564
Tuition Fee Loan (Maximum requested) £0.00

why is this?! I also thought id requested for the Maintenance Grant but it doesnt say anything about that. Can anyone please help? Panicking...

It either means you haven't applied for a tuition fee loan, or you are ineligible for it.

I would ring them to find out what has happened.

Have you sent off your parents financial evidence yet?
If not, it wont display the maintainance grant.

No, I am going sending off my parents details today, so yeah thanks that probably explains the grant bit!

But yes, i'll have to ring them (again im sure I ring them so often they'll know who it is by now...=/) quite worrying.

Thanks for you're reply!

ahh what the hell, mine says HE maintenance grant, £2,906.00 :s-smilie: I didn't even declare household income.

Thats strange! :s
what does it say for you're Tuition Fee Loan?

What the computer says is utterly irrelevant. The only figures that count are the ones SFE send out by post showing your entitlement. When that arrives and is in error - that's the time to get worried.

i applied for tuition fee loan of £0 as i don't need one for an erasmus year, but despite clicking on request maximum maintenance loan i got a letter saying i'd requested 0 so had been granted 0. phoned them up and they told me id not requested a maintenance loan on my application, i downloaded the appropriate form to apply for a maintenance loan, posted it to my LA and a week later got an amended letter from them with the correct amount on it. tip: phone the student finance department of your LA, its not a call centre so they will answer straight away and give you a straight answer, unlike SLC which you pay to connect to an 0845 number, wait around for the next operator then get told to ring back in a week because they can't see your application on the system!

Tuition and maintenance loan are normal, there's just an extra one :|

It isn't anything to do with local authorities in England.

my local authority kingston-upon-thames assessed my entitlement for the loan, the letter showing my loan entitlement comes from them, with a contract to sign and return to the student loan company/ student finance direct in glasgow.

After being on hold for half an hour, they said that someone made a mistake on one of the 3 assessments, all fixed

how long does it take them to sent you a letter by post?

I have the exact same number for the maintenance loan and £0 for the tuition fee loan.... Since it seems that a lot of people are getting the same figures it has to be some kind of automated figure or error.

Also, as a side note, SFE as s**t!!! Sent off my parents stuff months ago and it's still "awaiting further information"...

Reply 15

James and Lolablue, have you rang SF and if so what have they told you?

They told me don't worry about it as my application has not been prosessed yet.

Not in the 6 LEAs that piloted the SFE project.

Hi,

I have just applied online for income assessed student finance for the year 2010/11. However, whilst I requested a tuition fee loan of 1820, the maximum for my course, the eligibility summary tells me that I am eligible to recieve nothing, seems to be the same problem as you guys.

Did anyone call SLC in the end and find out if this is an error, or if something strange is going on? Would appreciate any assistance as I am entirely reliant on the tuition fee loan to pay my fees.
