Pill/altering normal cycle

I've been on the pill (microgynon) for around a year, and over the past year I've madly altered my cycle by taking extra pills here and there to delay my period for various things. Now I can't actually remember what date in the month it is that I'm naturally supposed to have my period. Does this matter as long as I do actually have a period at some point during the month?

Sorry for being rather vague, I have a problem with explanations :p:

Well it does matter because if you leave it longer than 7 days you're unprotected so maybe you should come off of it for a month or two so that you have your natural period and start the pill again so that you know which day to start on again.

You've misunderstood me slightly

I'm never left unprotected (not that I really need to be.. there's not much action going on over here at the moment) as I only ever use the inactive pill for seven days, whenever I want a period, and then I start the active pills again.

The thing is that I use the active pills A LOT i.e. I never stick to the proper 28 days cycle, but nor do I run two packs together properly, I just add a few pills on here and there to cover me during holidays, parties and the like, then I have a normal period and am off the active pills for seven days. So, in effect - I have a period whenever I want, it could be every 3 weeks, it could be every 5 weeks. Is this going to harm me in some way, or is it ok?

I think it might affect the concraceptiveness of taking the pill. You're only supposed to run 2 packs together if you do it properly, and take it continuosly for 6 weeks and have your break then.

I'd advise taking it normally from now on, and trying not to stop and start it.
