Family situation

Are any of you currently in this situation? Basically im 19 and an only child and whenever we get into an argument they start going on about how its their house, theirstuff and they can swear, I can't etc. For example yesterday I went for a shower at 11pm and my dad came up banging on the door as he wanted a shower so I hurried up and came out.

This morning my mum had a go at me for being in the bathroom at unsociable hours (lately ive been staying awake until 4 am so everything I do is unsociable lol) and I just explained to her that I cant really go in during the day for fear of them comming up knocking and wanting to go in (since I usually ask them before I go in but they say they dont know and they'l go in the bathroom whenever they want). Plus if the hour was that unsociable then why did my dad want to go in. She just said it was their house and I should work round them.

She also goes on about me swearing even though my dads constantly calling me B*****d and allsorts yet she says I cant swear back cause its their house and I should have respect for parents.

I admit ive no job and am not bringing any money in yet but Ive lived here since I was born so I see it as my house too in a way. :p:

I wanted to know if other families are similar and am I really in the wrong?

I know this is a sad, boring topic but its almost the end of summer and Ive no life :redface:

wow that really sucks, you shouldnt swear at your parents btw, if you were pissed off at you kids for doing something wrong the last thing you'd want is the kid calling you a bastard.

jeez have u ever confronted em abt it? like TELL them wot ur telling us? and yea move out...seems logical if all else fails

oh ur question is do all families go through this? hell yea....the situtions may differ but it does happen, the main thing though is its better u sort it out now rather than have ur parents sort it out for u >_o

Sounds to me like they think it's time for you to move out. Going on about how they can do what they want in their house sounds very much like a hint that you could do whatever you wanted in your house.
