I know there's a LOT of questions on here at the moment, so if anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated. I haven't previously retaken any subjects and chose instead to focus on studying for the 4 a levels. This has meant that in some subjects i am just a few marks off an A grade. I know that its not worth sending the scripts off for a remark as i believe their marking in my case has been pretty accurate. However, i am wondering if it would be possible to retake A2 UNITS (not the entire A2) next year (i'm on a gap year and haven't yet applied to university - i will do in September, so i do have the time to do it) without running the risk of losing a better grade.
I realise that at AS level, with retakes, the 'highest' grade counts. Is this the same for A2 level or by declining my grade am i 'giving it away' so to speak and having to retake the entire year/single unit, but run the risk of getting a lower UMS score than before?
I missed results day as i was coming back from America so i haven't been able to contact my school as of yet, i called connexions and don't panic who referred me to AQA whose offices are closed for today. if anyone can shed any light on the situation to stop me from worrying it would be much appreciated!
    Thank you!

I'm pretty sure that in any resit you dont risk the UMS going down - they will take the best mark. With remarking its a completely different story as the mark can go up or down and you must accept the most recent mark, as opposed to the best. x

The above is true but be careful some uni's expect better grades if you resit, check entrance requirements carefully before re-sitting

I'm going to do that with Physics... so I can get an A! But I think you have to decline your A2 grade so the further modules that you take count!

I think you can resit....but depending on when you want to resit u have to choose the correct modules...most boards do not do module 6z in Jan...

It is the same for A2 level. Basically you decline the grade, which means you don't get a certificate for it, but it's still there. So if you do worse the higher grade will count.
