a girl from northern ireland lived on my corridor, i think she was from bangor.

She flew to and from durham via newcastle airport i think

thanks  I've just found that easyjet fly to newcastle from belfast so i'm guessing that'd probably be my best option.

Yup I know someone from N Ireland who also came over to Newcastle airport.

PLEASE REMEMBER - there'll be a maximum baggage allowance that's something like 20-22kg (i.e. NOT VERY MUCH!) - and you'll have a hefty fine to pay if it's over that!

If you're planning on bringing a crap load of stuff, you'll probably be better off with the ferry then driving or getting a train up

And can I say that the Northern Irish accent is gorgeous  (just as a side point! lol)

You're definitely the first person who's ever said to me that the Northern Irish accent is gorgeous!! But thanks  lol

I know 5 N. Irish people in my year. I don't know anything about their flight details though! I will say, that unfortunately you'll have to be prepared for people to take the piss out of your accent/copy you.:s:

Yeah people tend to do that a lot anyway.....I'll just have to do it back to them!!

Reply 11

As long as I'm able to understand all the crazy different accents then I'll be happy!

Reply 12

People make fun of my accent all the time too. And I can't even tell the difference, because supposedly I sound 'Canadian' instead of 'American', but only Americans can really tell the difference :p: I'm just scared that everyone is going to think that I sound really weird once I get to Durham, because there are so few North Americans there :frown:

Reply 13

Well I'm sure there's gonna be a whole mixture of accents so I wouldn't worry. Especially as American/Canadian accents r pretty cool!

Reply 14

There are actually a decent number of Americans here at Durham so don't worry about it. If anything, it's a conversation starter and it's pretty cool anyway - everyone wants to have an American friend so that if they ever go over there they can stay with you lol

Becca you do talk funny, you need to learn to talk proper and remember that the letters "th" are pronounced "f", the letter "t" is a glottal stop and the letters "ou" as in "South" are pronounced "aaah". Among others.
Also, there are loads of NI people in Castle that fly in. You'll probably need your parents to drive over at the beginning of the year with all your stuff, then fly home for xmas with one suitcase of clothes and a backpack with ur PC/Books in. Make sure you get a small PC though...
